Viewing Distribution Maps

There are more than 100,000 plant specimen records at the K-State herbarium. At present most of these specimen records are being digitized and georeferenced mostly upto their County level. You can view the County level distribution of most taxons to their Family, Genus or Species level by using the interactive query tools provided on the left hand side column.

To view the entire distribution of either a Family or a Genus, simply type in the Family or Genus names in their respective text boxes and click the View Distribution button. If you are unaware of the exact spelling of a taxon, simply type in the first 2 characters and select a suitable taxon from the auto-suggest list.

To view the distribution of any species, first select the Family, then Genus and the Species. Click View Distribution button to view the distribution map. The pull-down meun will automatically narrow down the search to the Species level.

For specific instructions on how to use the query tools, hover the mouse over the respective floating panels.
